The Golden Band Wedding Band specializes in Bluegrass and Old Time music and has played countless weddings, private parties and events, always with the same aim: to get your feet to stomp their way all the way onto the dance floor. We like to let our clients speak for themselves so please check out our testimonials page!
Max Wareham (Banjo/Vocals)
Max Wareham has been pickin’ the 5-string banjo since before he could say “Bluegrass”. Some say he’s been pickin’ it since before he born, but he hasn’t been able to confirm that. Max has been leader of the Boston-based bluegrass band the Morning Bugle since 2014. He’s studied under the tutelage of Banjo greats Bill Keith, Tony Trischka, Jayme Stone, and Leon Hunt, and has also studied music at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City and Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
Jordan Santiago (Guitar)
From violin concertos in front of full orchestras to chamber ensembles and from the most experimental improvisation to the gnarliest Bluegrass jams around, Golden band member Jordan Santiago plays everything. Jordan studied at the Hart School of Music in Hartford, CT and the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. In performance or in his own practice Jordan is always pushing for the new skills and techniques that will take his playing to the next level.
David Delaney (Fiddle)
David has played since he propped his older sister’s violin up against a couch to hold it to his chin; it was love at first screech. Now graduated from Berklee College of Music, David tours up and down the northeast with Boston-based band The Whiskey Boys and “guest stars” with a number of groups, most excitingly with Three Day Threshold who invited him on their 2010 tour of military bases in Djibouti, Kuwait and Qatar. Dave has written several pieces of music specifically with the mind to play them as processionals giving The Golden Band quite a repertoire of beautiful original pieces they can play alongside the classics. David is published in “The Connecticut Sounds”, a collection of contra dance tunes written by Connecticut composers. His tune “Brigitte Mulholland” was selected by five-time Grand North American Fiddle Champion Ivonne Hernandez’s 2012 album “Waterbound” with her band The Fretless. David now lives in Boston, MA.
Karl Helander (Guitar)
Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Karl Helander knows how to anchor a dreadnought. A schooled drummer at an early age, Karl incorporates his strong sense of rhythm into his guitar playing. Karl is also a vocal shape-shifter: whether it’s a high and lonesome harmony or a sweet and low-down lead, he delivers a song to its fullest extent. Karl studied music at the Hartford Academy of the Arts as well as the Frost School of Music, and is always ready to share good music with good people.
Sean Farias (Bass)
Sean Farias is a renowned Bass player and instructor born and raised in New England. He can be heard performing with an eclectic array of performers throughout the Northeast in styles from Bluegrass to Jazz to Avant Garde to Pop and Rock. Sean has toured throughout the US, Canada, Europe and South Korea and currently a faculty member at the Rivers School Conservatory and Joy of Music Program.
